Day 90 of Dog (and a repeat on 91)

I went to sleep and left both sides of the cage open--botht he one to the pantry and the one to the dining room. And I got up to a most peculiar smell....
Diarrhea in the dining room. A lot of it.

t back and promptly fell asleep on the couch, and as of bedtime hasn't had a recurrence of sick. So I will hope the bug's out of her system.

Day 85 of Dog

Darn that darn dog! I threw a toy for the little dog and it hit the wall in the kitchen, just outside of her cage. She was in the dining room under the table, close to my feet, and she freaked! She ran into her cage and into the dog crate we had there.

She's come back out now, but still isn't eating. Darn her.

Day 84 of Dog

My brother got her a bed at Wal-mart but I've yet to see her sleep on it. Funny how this little dog who'd probably never seen a dog bed in her life, when she went to boarding kennel, immediately curled up on a little white dog bed and made it hers. SO I'd been wanting to get one just like it for her, but time and kid things intervented. FInally I mentioned it to my brother, who has a Sam's membership and goes shopping every weekend.

He didn't like the ones at Sam's but found this big, brown, high-sided, extremely cushy bed at Wal-mart. I had my doubts, but....

So it's there, in her cage. And she's still laying on the two kitchen rugs topped by a towel that I put down for her.

Day 81 of Dog

Trying to get her accustomed to Cranky, I 'heeled' her down the hall to the little girl's bedroom and asked Cranky if she wanted to pet the dog. Well, Cranky didn't understand I had the dog right there. She burst out of her room and sparked a complete panic.

The panic was over pretty quickly, thanks be to Dog, and we finished up our walk quietly. No incident.

Day 80 of Dog

Today when my teenage girl tried to pat her, Izzy climbed over the couch and knocked over a concrete block (one of the supports for her cage.) I was so petrified it would fall on her foot, I shrieked.

We have got to make time to work with her.

Day 79 of Dog

Tomorrow's Saturday and I don't have to go to Arkansas! We're going to take a nice long walk and maybe a bit of a jog. We're going to practice The Sit. And we're definitely going to get a beef bone!

Day 78 of Dog

Man, she's weird. When my teenage girl went into the kitchen, she came out of her cage over to cower by me. Why in the world could she be scared of a girl, and why it the world would she come over to me? She’s scared to death of me!

Weird.

All I know for sure is, I got to start getting home in time (or make time) to work with her. She's got to learn to come to me on call, not just when she wants to cower!

Day 76 of Dog

Very good walk today, but too short!

Day 75 of Dog

Still with us after my absence! Her tail didn't wag or anything, but she looks happy.

Day 74 of Dog

Hope for the best. I'll be home tomorrow.

Day 73 of Dog

I said goodbye to her and gave her a beef chip snack. That's the best I can hope for.

Day 72 of Dog

I hope she survives without me. Nice little walk today, just up and down the driveway and then out to the garden. I truly believe in a couple of weeks she's going to be jogging with me.

Day 71 of Dog

We had a nice albeit short walk today. I took the little dog with us but not the big one, and oddly enough, NoName tended to walk even with me or pull ahead. Usually, when I take all three of them, she lags.

Good girl.

On the other hand I spent my lunch break researching how to cut black-colored claws. I learned that (a) I've been doing it wrong all along, and (b) it's not easy. Like I didn't know that. Basically they said; take off a little at a time. But when they described how to tell when to stop I just didn’t get it. Guess I'll find out soon.

Day 70 of Dog

Funny, that. It was thundering this morning, so I got up sometime between 5:00, when Hew lets her out, and 6:00, when my brother leaves. According to my brother, when he tried to approach her to give her a cookie, she bolted over the couch and back into her cage.

I guess I knew she knew how easy it was to jump out of there. I'm just lucky she doesn't decide the rest of the house is an extended poopery.

But she was okay this time. However, the little dog--on account of the storm and not getting let outside on time...had an accident.

Day 69 of Dog - what are doghouses good for?

As previously mentioned, rain. She really doesn't understand doghouses or even overhangs--when I looked outside during the mid-morning, she was curled up in a ball beside the fence. In the rain.

It wasn't a hard rain, but still!

Later I caught her standing on top of the doghouse, looking majestic. When I got the camera and went back to snap a picture, she'd changed position and it wasn't nearly as good a shot.

Day 68 of Dog

NoName got to be a rescue dog today. The little one ran off and disappeared in the back field somewhere, so she got to come with me while I found him. He wasn't hard to find, I admit, but it was nice to have company.

Day 66 of Dog

Weird little pile of poop in the dining room. A little too large for the smallish dog. Makes me wonder.

Day 64 of Dog

Crappy walk today--the other two dogs keep me too busy to attend to her. But we had some "bonding time" on the back steps.

Day 62 of Dog

Nothing special, I'm embarrassed to admit. She tried to steal one of my fuzzy socks off the table in order to (I presume) chew it up. When I retrieved it, she borrowed one of the little dog's chewed-up flip flops for a snack.
