Day 179 back from doggie camp

I got them back today and they're so happy!  (Or maybe that's me.)

The garden, on the other hand, is dry as dirt and weedy as an inner-city sidewalk.  I guess I know what I'll be doing next weekend.

Day 176 - getting ready for an awful weekend

My big babies are going off to doggie boarding school again!  Aiee!

I'm going off to a funeral.  Aiee.

And my little boy is coming with.  He doesn't know that yet.  He just upchucked on the dining room carpet but it looks like he recycled it.

The next installment of garden in progress.-- TOMATO BLOSSOMS!

Day 174 dog update

Since the schedule is all weird, I've been having trouble getting her to eat in the mornings.  But this morning all went well--I fed her when I went into the bathroom and when it was time to leave for work, her food dish was empty.

So then I tried togive her a dog biscuit.  Fail!

After five minutes of aggravation the big dog ended up with two biscuits and her, none.

 Some more garden in progress.

Day 173 the garden continued

Sphaghetti squash--my big experiment.  The stick is just a marker for where I planted the seeds.  The hardest part about squash is that I always plant two seeds in each hill, in case one doesn't germinate.  But then, when they both come up, how do you choose which one to kill?

It used to be even worse--I used to plant three.

Day 171 lettuce and new dog harness

Salad coming soon...I'm going to pick a mess of spinach tomorrow and wilt it for some spinach quesadillas on Tuesday. Yum!

I bought a new harness for my Izzy dog today. It's too big for her in the loops but just right in the length. The problem is, she's a loooooong dog. Long and lean. Probably the medium size would have been better but it was always too short in the span between collar and girth.

This will do, but it can't be left on her--she'll chew it up as fast as she did the first one.

Garden in progress

Purple hulls still look diseased. Not all of them, and especially not the ones planted later. Keep fingers crossed!
