Wow! How I
loved and hated this book. Loved the people—smart, serious and confused
Frankie, who signed up to be an Army nurse to be together with her brother in Vietnam.
Kind Ethel, who always went the extra steps for her dearest friends. And
devoted Barb, no stranger to loss and disappointment of her own but always
ready to throw it off for a party with her besties. And I hated the needless suffering they all
endured when returning to a country that spit on soldiers in uniform. And I had
to hate Frankie's clueless parents. And Frankie’s guy, for whom her desire and neediness was confused with
'love' and might ruin her life forever…or is she stronger than
that? Or is he?
Not telling and I may have told too much already.
This is a great book and seems to be flawlessly researched and plotted. It fits in with everything I ever knew and didn’t want to know about the war.
