Not so great; not so bad. It was a companion book to a TV show or series or something, and I suspect the show was excellent. This was kind of dry. It was nice that it told the history of each trail, taking about ten major routes through the North American continent in turn, and then told what the trail was like today. With travel tips, too.
But I found it noteworthy that even I, an avid traveler and casual student of history, didn't find a single thing to copy out into my "Places to go" notepad. There was stuff I didn't know about all of them, but just nothing that tickled my fancy.
