Magnus the Mighty Motorhome takes us to Seminole Canyon, Day 4

Fri 17 Nov

Garner State Park to Seminole Canyon State Park

Easy drive except I wanted to fill up diesel in the new Magnus the Mighty Motorhome, so I chose Uvalde as a better stop  than Del Rio. It turned out we had to go around little streets and railroad tracks to backtrack to the very small gas station listed on the Open Roads app. The app said it was a 7-11, but it was actually a Shell or something like that. But they took our diesel discount card, so it turned out okay.

But the drive was only about three hours, so it was pleasant. Seminole Canyon is a lovely, lovely place.  Right in the depths of the Chihuahuan Desert but with rivers running through it making scenic canyons. The Pecos and the Rio Grande were two of the rivers although I never actually saw either one.  Or maybe that was the Pecos I saw on the tour next day.  It had a little water, but not a continuous flow.

Birds: black-throated sparrow, canyon wren (heard), cactus wren, canyon towhee, house finch, pyrrhuloxia, white-crowned sparrow, meadowlark (heard), curve-billed thrasher almost certainly for sure.
