Magnus goes (with luck) to Oregon, Day 14

Sunday, September 13

I climbed up on the floodwall for Molly's morning walk. And I saw the weirdest sight--about ten Canada geese pointing upstream but letting themselves be pushed backward by the current. They got to a little cove and stopped.

Then Magnus took us away from Yakima Sportsman Park heading to the west.

Trip notes: 12 is a good road so far--we'll see. Slowly gaining altitude. Passes ahead. Scary.

Raining. Not hard but steady wipers.

We arrived at Mounthaven Resort in constant rain; we hooked up utilities in a puddle. The site had gorgeous big trees (Western Red Cedar; not a true cedar but in the cypress family) but they precluded any chance of a starlink signal. We didn't even try.

The Campground WIFI worked fine but streaming video was erratic and prone to outages. I walked Molly around and around the campground, and then after supper we watched a DVD. Old fashioned technology.

So it's an okay place for me but not so nice for Ed or Molly.

Some pics on the road.

Review: Mounthaven Resort

Big trees--lovely setting--not a resort

Site 15? FHU   $350/3=$115 per night

We only had 30-amp electricity; it worked okay but we did flip the breaker once. We were only running our A/C on low because the weather was cool.

The RV sites had major puddles all over after a rain. The trees dripped on us all night. Which wasn't a big deal; just a minor annoyance. It's not like the owner could have prevented it.

Starlink reception was impossible. A couple of sites might have been okay, but most were not worth trying. The campground WIFI worked fine for computers and phones but streaming Netflix was horrible. But we were warned about that and had some DVDs to watch.

The entrance is a little hard to find but if you use GPS and slow down you should be okay. They have a 500' warning sign, too.

They have plenty of room (or so it seems to me) to put in a dog run. We really needed one--there's not a lot of space to walk a 50 pound dog for exercise. They had a tiny little kid's playground.
