Friday, August 15
Finally, we were headed to Massachusetts. Or rather, Connecticut where our campground was--West Thompson Lake Campground. Ed’s trucker app chose the same route that google did, which I would have overridden if I’d been planning manually. My route using mostly interstates took 15 minutes longer “on paper”, but in an RV would probably have been faster. Because we ended up on little tiny, winding and hilly roads through lots of little towns. But we got there.
The campground only has 30-amp electricity and there’s no sewer hookups, but we should be okay. I was conserving as much water as possible in hopes that we would make it all five nights without having to go dump our tanks. We’d see how it goes.
After hooking up and giving Molly a short walk, we headed to Edward’s house. It being a Friday, the traffic was horrible. We were only there long enough to play ball with the kids, inspect all the broken stuff (pool pump hose, water heater, car), and then head out to eat supper. Good enough. I didn’t notice if he’d replaced his TV yet, but I guess not.
The time spent with family is infinitely precious but it makes for poor reading afterwards. We ate pizza at Thompson House of Pizza after trying the one in Webster and realizing what it meant on the web site by “open for carryout.” (It meant, no seating inside). Ed and I didn’t get back to the campground before 9pm, so we had to park outside the gate and walk up to our site. No big deal but annoying.
