Mammoth Goes to The Falls. The Big Ones. Day 12

Sat 30 Sep

Well, today was a complete fail. We were headed to Plymouth, to see "the rock" and the ocean.  I told them we'd be getting to their house at ten, thinking we'd leave shortly afterward. But no, they were not even done with showers at that point and then we had to wait 45 minutes for hair styling and a full makeup application. And then the general delay of getting kids moving, etc.

It wouldn't have mattered. We were less than halfway when the Jeep blew a tire. Since it was Saturday afternoon by then, we decided to get the tire fixed and go home.  I didn't return to Mammoth to walk Molly until 4pm, and I hadn't eaten lunch.

This part of the trip was pretty crappy all around. But it was awfully nice to see Edward and the kids. Elyanna played balloon volleyball with me yesterday, and the kids were great.  But the minor vehicular issues combined with the all-day rain on Friday have made things a little yucky.

The trees are turning, rapidly. Some places, especially in the swamps, are totally gorgeous. There were a good number of Canada Geese in the swampy pond near the campground--Molly and I walked  out yesterday and looked for them. Very few other birds, except chickadees around. And catbirds at Edward's house--shouldn't they be gone south by now?

I tried to get a picture of Halloween decorations at the campground, but this is all I got.
