Magnus the MIghty Motorhome takes us to Seminole Canyon

 Tuesday 14 November 2023

Challenging to find time to write notes. New MH -- not Mammoth--I thought of a better name but it's lost now.  Anyway, challenging. Everything is out of place or missing or malfunctioning.  Things should get better, but meanwhile, I have hiking (walking) and birds to do.

Seminole Canyon is a cool place!  But first, in order.

Left home and headed to Canyon Lake and never got there. We stopped at the rest area in Hillsboro and couldn't get the motorhome door to shut. Ed worked on the door assembly for a while, finally got it put back together. Shut the door from the inside and the handle came off--and we were stuck. No way to open it from inside or outside.

We were close enough to Waco that it seemed to make sense to go on to the nearest RV parts store there. A nice guy there came out to help us, but he couldn't open the door from the outside. He suggested we go to Motor Home Specialist. Duh!

We were only a little over an hour away. So back up Interstate 35 we went; Tristan (our repair guy) swapped out the door assembly; we decided to go on with the trip. But there was no point in trying to go all the way to Canyon Lake--we went to Cedar Ridge instead. This is the same place place we used to go to when Edward was at Fort Hood. We were parked and hooked up by 4:30 or so, plenty of time for Molly to get a bit of a walk.

Instead of cooking, we went into Temple and got Long John Silvers. Pretty good. My main issue with the whole first day, which prevented me from writing, was that, it was the <i>first day. We were still sorting and searching for all the stuff we needed. While getting ready, I'd just grabbed bags of stuff and shoved them into the closest places I could find to put them. The only thing that was somewhat well arranged was the kitchen.  So everything I wanted to do took three times as long as it used to.
